A Website for a Buck?
Now that I have your attention, let me explain. You really can't get your website designed; have your business name registered; have your newly developed website published so people can see it; have a "for sale" page to sell your products/livestock on-line; and learn how to update your sale page for a dollar or a Boer buck. However, if you have a terrific dough (I mean a terrific FB registered BOER doe with an outstanding pedigree) -- perhaps we can barter. Check out the prices that others charge for designing, programming, and hosting a unique website, and you will see what a terrific deal this is. Is this offer available to everyone? NO. I am very selective. You must have something that I want! What are the risks? Nothing, we are both protected. If I don't like the doe you are offering, no deal. If you are not 100% satisfied with the website I design for you, no deal. This win-win offer is a no-brainer!
Am I qualified? Yes!! I am my own worst critic -- every website that I develop must meet my high standards. I spend a lot of time and creative energy taking your words & desires into consideration to give you a professional website that we can both be proud of. I received formal government web design training before attending the premier school, WestLake Internet Training, in Washington, DC. Afterward, I designed and implemented a website for a large Federal agency to consolidate bureau information at the agency level. Next I moved on to another agency where I redesigned and updated their website. For private industry, I built websites for a horse tack business in Kansas, a horse campground in Ohio, a local horse organization, a wooden pallet mill and, of course, this site. Needless to say, I am qualified and can design a fantastic website for anyone -- but I don't want to start a web business and don't want cash. Confused? Well, the only thing that will take me away from my goats, horses, friends, family, and my honey (while the website is being developed) is the temptation of getting another fantastic BOER doe to add to my herd. I am hooked on BOER goats!
Note: I use sound website practices to develop professional sites. If you want a cluttered website with annoying colors, words following the mouse as it goes across the page, or words that bounce up and down, I am not your web designer. I strive to give my customers a website that brings customers to their site rather than chase them away.
Interested? What do you do next?
- Read the paper entitled "I Want a Website" to understand what's involved in getting a website and complete the linked worksheet that has questions you need to answer before getting other cost estimates.
- With your worksheet in hand, call some web designers to find out how much they would charge for the service I am offering.
- Once you know how much others charge, you can decide which web designer you want. If you decide to go with me, send me information & pictures on the Boer doe you want to barter. If I accept your offer, our relationship begins. We will work together to incorporate your vision and personality into your website. I will develop a few rough drafts so you can pick the one that you like. I will then develop your website, revise your content pages to really sell your business, put the draft website on-line in a test mode so you can see it and tell me what changes you want, make the necessary changes and publish it so everyone can see it on the internet. I will also teach you how to update your "for sale" page. At that point, I will take possession of the doe.
- Normally no other costs are involved for one year because I will not be making changes to your website. Although your sales page or on-line store information will change, I will have taught you how to make those changes yourself so I don't envision any additional costs. However, if you later decide to redesign your pages or change a lot of information, it will cost you a minimum of $10 an hour unless you have another doe that we can barter.
What happens after a year?
After one year our agreement terminates. At that time you can decide to (1) keep your website where it is and pay me the annual cost for the server (under $150 annually) or (2) I can move your website over to a server of your choice where you or another webmaster can maintain it. The choice is yours!
